Flax unigenes

Experiments :

Nine different RNA samples obtained from flax inner- and outer-stems, seeds, leaves and roots were used to generate this 59,626 unigenes for flax (Linum usitatissinum).

Detailed samples :

  • Seed samples : Developing seeds (cultivar Barbara) were collected at 10-15, 20-30 and 40-50 Days After Flowering (DAF),
  • Stem samples: 15 cm-long stem samples were recovered from plants (cultivar Hermes) were harvested at two different developmental stages: (1) vegetative (50-60 days after germination-DAG) and (2) green capsule (70-80 DAG) . The outer fiber-bearing tissues were peeled off and inner tissues (xylem) cut into short fragments.
  • Root samples: The extremity of each root (cultivar Hermes) was cut off.
  • Leave samples : Leaves (cultivar Hermes) were collected at vegetative stage

Project :

The main objective of the GENOLIN project is to develop flax oligonucleotide microarrays: genomic tools for a better understanding of the physiological functioning of this plant in order to quantitatively and qualitatively improve agriculturally and industriallyvaluable traits.

The GENOLIN project is supported by the flax profession and the Pôle de Compétitivité “Industries & Agro-ressources”. The tools developed in GENOLIN will be exploited in subsequent flax research programmes.
